I was inspired by other vegan travel blogs to visit Sri Lanka. I really enjoy 5-star resorts, so Vegan Food Quest in particular got me dreaming of seaside breakfast buffets at luxurious Jetwing hotels.  There were actually some good deals with local travel agents for these hotels, but some research on vacationing in Sri Lanka taught me that 2 weeks of lying on a beach in Negombo would be a terrible waste of a 14-hour trip to this gorgeous county.

So I settled on 3 major cities. Still not nearly enough to see the country, but long enough to appreciate just how easy it was to get a vegan meal just about anywhere.

My significant other and I got much praise from people for being what they called pure vegetarians. This made us feel respected and supported, and we felt that we could trust restaurants to that to make sure that everything we ordered was vegan, even if there was a language barrier sometimes.

Check out our experiences in Colombo, Kandy and Negombo!
